About Us

The Teddington Hands Inn (formerly known as The Cross Hands At Teddington) originally stood on the crossroads of the Stow Road and Evesham Road.

The earliest record of the building as a pub was in 1893 when it was classified as a Wayside Inn. The present owners have unearthed some old photographs, including the one picture right, which probably dates in the late 1930's and shows an RAC Patrolman standing near the pub just below the crossroads, presumably to direct traffic.

The Teddington Hands Inn (formerly known as The Cross Hands At Teddington) originally stood on the crossroads of the Stow Road and Evesham Road.

Sadly, a number of serious accidents at the crossroads prompted the building of the Teddington Hands Roundabout some twenty-five to thirty years ago, effectively moving the Stow Road away from the side of the pub.

The address remained as Stow Road until February 2006 when the present owners, fed up with having to explain to delivery drivers that, although the address says Stow Road, "we are not actually on Stow Road but on Evesham Road".  So they applied through Tewkesbury Borough Council and Royal Mail to Change the address to Evesham Road so they can be more easily found.

Another is an aerial photograph probably taken in the late 1950's which shows the crossroads as they were at that time (click on the image above to zoom in).

Just opposite the pub is the famous "Tibblestone", an ancient standing stone of supposedly mystical significance which is thought to be over 2000 years old.
